Job Responsibilities
** Shall oversee and supervise all operations of the 911 Action Ministry under the direction of the Pastor. Shall seek to fulfill all responsibilities with tact, zeal, dedication and love.
** The purpose of the 911 Action Ministry shall be to respond quickly, day or night, at any time, to assist the pastor (or other ministry director approved by the Pastor) with any emergency or need. The pastor is to understand that the very nature of this ministry is to free him of any feeling of “guilt” at calling for help at the last minute, at late hours, or for unpleasant jobs.
** The motto of the 911 Action Team is: “Anytime, anywhere, for any reason, if we are able, we will respond.”
** Shall work with the pastor in presenting the vision of the 911 Action Ministry to the church. After the appeal, shall pass out and collect commitment forms from those what wish to participate.
** Volunteers are to understand that they are committing to respond only if they are able. However, they are willing to do their best and will be faithful as often as possible.
** Volunteers are free to invite their spouses and children to help if it is applicable.
** The 911 Action Ministry Director is encouraged to divide the volunteers into “teams” with a captain and assistant captain in each team. When called, the 911 Director will call the team captains (or assistant captains) who, in turn, will contact their team members. This will insure a quick response to any emergency.
** The key to the success of this ministry is a large volume of volunteers. This is because, under normal circumstances, at any one time, only about 30% to 40% will be able to respond. For this reason, the 911 Action Ministry director may wish to recruit teams from the various departments in the church. For example, a Ladies Ministry team, a Youth team, Men’s Ministry Team, Singles Ministry Team, Golden Agers Team, etc.
** The 911 Action Ministry director must be careful to be “ready” for the volunteers when they arrive, realizing that the volunteers time is valuable. Therefore, volunteers should not have to stand around and wait while supplies are purchased, equipment gathered, etc. The need for quick planning and the use of organizational skills are essential to the success of this ministry. Delegation is a must.
Other Duties
** Shall work with the pastor to choose an assistant to help you in your duties, and to fill your position should you be unavailable at any time.
** Shall be an example to the 911 Action Volunteers by being faithful in church attendance and paying of tithes.
** Shall be an example in soulwinning by being involved in some form of evangelism ministry.
** Shall be an example in spiritual growth by coming at least one-half hour before each service to pray.
** Shall attend all ministry planning sessions and organizational councils as needed.
** If unable to attend any meeting because of an emergency, shall inform the Pastor in advance and endeavor to have a substitute (your assistant) attend in your place.
** Shall hand in an official monthly report of all 911 Action Ministry activities, detailing response and results of any assignments called for.
** Shall perform additional duties as required.
Organizational Relationships
The 911 Action Ministry Director shall work under the direction of the Pastor and the Ladies Ministry Director. Each year the pastor will review this Job Description, update and improve it to make it more applicable to the position. The 911 Action Ministry director shall work closely with all ministry directors, but especially with the Ladies Ministry director. Evaluation of performance of this position shall be performed by the pastor on an annual basis. The term of this office shall be for one year.
