Baptizing them in the Father’s Name
Jesus Christ was “Only Begotten of the Father.” His birth was described by the Angel unto Mary. “The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall over-shadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.”
Matt. 1:35, Jesus Christ is the Son of God, for his Father was God.
The Angel declared: “Thou shalt call his Name Jesus.” Matt. 1:21 Why was the name to be Jesus? Remember his Father was God, and as the Son of God he received by Inheritance his Father’s Name. Heb. 1:4 declares concerning the birth of the Son of God: “Being made so much better than the angels, as He (Jesus) hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent Name than they (angels). Jesus said: “I am come in My Father’s Name, and ye receive me not.” John 5:43 What Name was that? It was the Name of Jesus.
Glory came to the Father’s Name by the miracles brought forth through the Son. John 2:23 says..many believed in his Name, when they saw the miracles which he did.” Jesus said: “I told you, and ye believed not: the Works that I do In My Father’s Name, they bear witness of me.” John 10:25 The Father’s Name was Jesus. Jesus taught his disciples to reverence the hallowed Name of the Father. They were to pray: “Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed Be Thy Name . . .Matt. 6:9
In prayer before Calvary Jesus prayed:, “I have manifested Thy Name unto the men which thou gayest me out of the world …Holy Father, keep through thine Own Name those whom thou hast given me … While I was with them in the world, I kept them In Thy Name:.. John 17:6, 11, 12.
Jesus sent forth his disciples with this commandment. “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, Baptizing them in the Name Of The Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” Matt. 28:19. Baptizing in the Name of the Father could only be observed by baptizing the believer in the Name of Jesus. Jesus was the Father’s Name. The apostles at Pentecost obeyed this command by exalting the Father’s Name. The apostle Peter among the eleven declared to the House of Israel: Repent, and be Baptized every one of you in the Name Of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” Acts 2: 38
Only through the Father’s Name could the believers of the Gospel have life. John declared: “But these are written that ye might Believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that Believing ye might have Life Through His Name.” John 20:31
The believing Gentiles, gathered together at the House of Cornelius, heard through the apostle Peter: “To him give all the prophets witness, that Through His Name whosoever believeth in him shall receive Remission Of Sins.” Acts 10:43 Upon being filled with the Holy Ghost, the apostle Peter” commanded them to be baptized in the Name of the Lord.” Acts 10:48
The hallowed Father’s Name given unto the Son was “Jesus”. True salvation comes only through the Father’s name. Acts 4:12 declares: “Neither is there Salvation in any other: for there is None Other Name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
