Dear Timothy,
I greet you in the name of the Lord! Youth is in your favor, and the future is very bright and attractive to those who feel the challenge of reaching the world with this glorious gospel. As I reflect over the years of my ministry, there are several things that stand out to me that have had a great impact upon my life.
No. 1 The foundation of a preacher is most essential. He must build upon the rock Christ Jesus. He must be anchored in the doctrine and committed to the course of his ministry.
No. 2 It is imperative that every minister of the gospel have a vision of what God intends for him to accomplish over the duration of his ministry. In your mind, you must have an image of what God wants for you to be, and keep that image ever before you.
No. 3 Be steadfast, rooted, and determined. There will be many who will attempt to derail you from achieving your vision. However, in order to accomplish God’s purpose in your life, you must have a strong determination that refuses to be thwarted by the many confusing events of life.
No. 4 Passion is a very essential part of a God-called minister. Many fail for lack of passion. When you lose your desire to accomplish God’s mission, you will find yourself in a deteriorating mode. The passion to achieve and to reach for your dreams is something you must, again and again, seek renewal of. Life has a way of destroying your “want to.” If the devil believes he can discourage you from reaching for God’s best, he will certainly do so. Make up in your mind in the very beginning, that as you are pursuing your goals, you will never give in to the feelings of discouragement. And when you are brought down, you will rise again and accept God’s best in your life.
