What shall a man give in exchange for his soul? It is a very common scripture, and it is so common that we pass over it without asking the question properly. And those who are in this building that do not know the Lord as your Savior, I know you feel that penetrating movement of a divine God as He places His footprints in the midst of this group tonight. Maybe four, five, eight, or ten people will make their way down here to this altar tonight and call on the Lamb of God to save you from sin.
Joe David Sizemore was called into the ministry during his teenage years being raised in Dawson Springs, Kentucky. After graduating from high school in 1949, he became intensely involved in the evangelistic work, traveling as a musician and singer with the Harold Bayer evangelistic team. The Lord began to bless his ministry, and within a short time, he began to travel on his own as an evangelist.
In 1952 he met and married a beautiful and talented young lady, the former Jackie Bobo of Austin, Texas. The Lord blessed them with four lovely children: Cheryl, David Jr., Danny, and Celecia.
Brother Sizemore was invited to preach at the Full Gospel Church in Cincinnati, Ohio, and during the revival he was asked if he would consider taking the pastorate of this church. On January 3, 1953, Brother Sizemore became the new pastor of the Full Gospel Church, Cincinnati, Ohio, now known as Covenant Apostolic Church. He held this position until his passing on January 1, 2003.
A tremendous preacher known throughout the ranks of the apostolic movement, Brother Sizemore’s anointed, sincere, and enthusiastic presentation of the gospel made him a much-desired camp meeting and conference speaker.
Brother Sizemore was ordained in the Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ in 1956 and remained a member until his death, serving as Assistant General Superintendent, National Home Missions Director, and one of the founders of Blue Mountain Children’s Home, Blue Mountain, Mississippi.
Brother Sizemore was a very happy and jolly man who loved laughter and life. He was an exemplary husband, father, and grandfather who showered his family with love and affection.
Brother Sizemore departed this life to be with the Lord on January 1, 2003 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He as a “giant among men” who influenced thousands of people with his ministry.
