Ladies Ministry Project Ideas

(Editor’s Note: Here’s some great project ideas or mission tasks for taking women’s ministry out of the church and into the community. Consider utilizing some of these with your ladies group.)
The following list is a compilation of many of the ideas that were sent it.
Tutoring – at a local elementary or middle school.
Meals for the Homeless – sack lunches handed out once a month and special dinners with gifts at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Outreach to Teachers – meals, cookies and other treats in the teacher’s lounge. Another idea was to collect classroom items and create huge gift baskets for each of the teachers.
Habitat for Humanity – many chapters have an “all woman build.” Women in the community can come together and help a family!
Babysitting co-op – to give single moms a break.
Helping Hands – outreach to women in shelters. Women in your church provide their expertise in a one day outreach to these women. Example: hairdressing, manicures, resume writing, job interview skills, computer 101, etc…
Practical Acts of Kindness – community outreach meeting practical needs like mowing yards, painting houses, grocery shopping, errand running, and boxes of helpful items like housecleaning supplies, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, etc.
Fan Drive – collecting and distributing box fans in the summer.
Lovin’ From the Oven – frozen meals and desserts with the recipe and a scripture verse attached – taken to families in need.
“Just Add Water” Gifts in a Jar – soup mix, cookie mix and hot chocolate mix in pretty quart glass jars. Attach instructions and scripture verse. Distribute personally or donate to local food pantry.
Women’s Health Fair – host a day where women can get information about health issues. Offer blood pressure testing, diabetes screening, etc. and workshops on heart health, exercise, nutrition, etc. (These can also be great welcome gifts for visitors.)
Retirement Home Outreach – visit elderly and spend time visiting, reading, singing, painting toe nails, etc.
Church Booth at Community Events – consider investing in a small canopy and having a booth at local fairs and events. Have small gifts to give away with information about your church/ministry and a drawing for a door prize if you want to collect contact information.
Knots of Love – make polar fleece blankets to distribute through Salvation Army and other charitable organizations.
