1. How much Authority does the Bible have?

John 17:17
The Word is Truth.

John 12:48
The Word will judge us in the last day.

Rev 20:12 – 15
In the last days people are judged according to things written in the books. (66 books = Bible).
Whosoever name is not found written in the book of life is cast into the lake of fire.

II Tim 3:16
The Bible is the Word of God because it was inspired by God.

II Pet 1:19 – 21
Men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Rev 22:18 – 19
You cannot add to or take from the Word.

CONCLUSION – The Bible is the inspired word of God and as such it is the highest authority in the world.

2. Are all professing Christians really Christians?

John 4:23 – 24
Jesus here indicates that not all worshippers are true worshippers.

11 Tim 3:1 – 7
Here are a list of end time sins, however these sins are taking place amongst professors of religion.

11 Tim 4:1 – 4
Preach the Word because a time will come, when men will look for a preacher that suits them.

Matt 7:13 – 27
The fruit of a false prophet is that the gospel he preaches does not include repentance from sin and obedience to God.

James 1:21 – 24
You must be a doer of the word and not a hearer only.

11 Cor. 11:21 – 24
Satan’s ministers appear to be the ministers of righteousness.

Matt 24:24 – 25
Jesus predicted many false prophets.

CONCLUSION – Not everyone that claims to be a Christian is a Christian, and not every Christian group is truly Christian. Beware of false prophets.

3. Where can we find the truth?

John 17:17 – 20
The Apostles were God sent, sanctified with truth and we must believe on Jesus through their word.

Gal. 1:6 – 12
There is no other true gospel than the one the Apostles preached.

II Cor. 4:3 – 4
If you do not know the Apostles gospel you are lost.

Matt. 16:18
The true church is built upon a rock.

Eph. 2:19 – 20
The foundation of the church is the doctrine of the Apostles, Prophets, and Jesus Christ himself.

Conclusion – Jesus Christ committed the true plan of salvation to his Apostles, sanctified them with truth and sent them into the world to preach the true gospel. If we believe in him we must believe in him through their word.

4. What did the Apostles preach?

Matt 28:18 – 20 } THE
Mark 16:15 – 20 } GREAT
Luke 24:45 – 49 } COMMISSION
Jesus commanded his Apostles to preach the gospel which would involve faith, repentance and Baptism.

NB: The gospel would first be preached at Jerusalem after they have received power.

Acts 2:1 – 4
The promise fulfilled by the infilling of the Holy Ghost evidenced by speaking with tongues.

Acts 2:5 – 36
The crowd gathers, the miracle is explained and the word is preached.

Acts 2:37 – 39
The all important question is asked, the truth sanctified answer is given,

John 3:1 – 5
Without the new birth of water and of the spirit one cannot enter into the Kingdom of God.

NB: JOHN 3:5 is fulfilled in Acts 2:38 where we find water baptism and the gift of the spirit.

1 Cor 15:1-4
This plan of salvation causes us to identify with Christ’s death, burial and resurrection. This is the gospel (See Rom 6:1-6)

Acts 8:5 – 17
The Samaritans were baptized in Jesus name and filled with the Holy Ghost.

Acts 10:1 – 48
The Story of Cornelius shows that both water baptism and the spirit baptism are necessary, that sincerity is not salvation and that the evidence of the gift of the Holy Ghost is speaking with tongues.

Acts 16:30 – 34
Salvation does not simply stop at mentally believing on the Lord.

Acts 18:24 – 28
One can genuinely love God and have zeal for his work and yet need to be shown the way of God more perfectly.

Acts 19:1 – 6
The two important questions to all believers.

5. What about the Name?

Acts 4:12
JESUS is the only saving name.

Col. 3:17
Do all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Col. 2:8 – 9
The fullness of the Godhead (Father, Son and Holy Ghost) are in Jesus.

CONCLUSION – The name of Matthew 28:19 is the Lord Jesus Christ. The Apostolic gospel therefore includes repentance from sin, water baptism in Jesus Name, and the infilling of the Holy Ghost evidenced by speaking in tongues, this is the New Birth.

6. What will happen to those that reject the gospel?

I Pet. 4:17 – 18
Where shall the ungodly and sinner appear?

11 Thess. 1:7 – 10
Vengeance is coming upon those that do not obey the gospel.

11 Thess. 2:9 – 12
God shall send them a strong delusion that they should believe a lie.

Rev 20:14 – 15
Rev 21:8
Those whose names are not written in the book of life shall be cast into the lake of fire.

CONCLUSION – There are three ways to be lost yet only one way to be saved.
1. Never listen to the true gospel of Jesus Christ.
2. Be deceived by a false prophet into believing something other than what the Apostles preached.
3. Hear the true gospel and reject it.

7. What would Paul say if he met you?

Acts 19:1 – 6
Do you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ? Have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed? Unto what then were you baptized?

CONCLUSION – Will you accept or reject this gospel?
