James 1:12-16
“Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. Do not err, my beloved brethren.
Red lights have always been an irritation to me. We call them red lights, but they also flash green, but green does not unsettle me like red. It’s not the color of the light that gets me, it’s not because off it’s location that irritates me, but it is what red says that aggravates me, it’s what red says that I don’t like. Stop! And I don’t like to stop.
In our minds, we think a free run of the road would be more exhilarating, and a lot more exciting, and certainly a lot more convenient. We could get to where we’re going much quicker.
But let me tell you that a city without stop lights would be chaotic. Red lights on the streets and highways are for your protection.
And so it is with life. Life without stops would soon end, and end, in devastation.
It is important that we, everyone of us, understand that the restrictions of life do become our friends. They become our friends because we cannot live life without things that will stop, or at least, slow us down.
I would like to tell you today that God does tell us “no.” There are many stop lights along the way, and mister you better stop. Man cannot be left unrestrained. You cannot do anything you want to do and still hope to make it to heaven.
I. SIN WHEN SOWN:
1. Sin has a way of singing a lull-a-by song:
2. Sin gratifies the flesh and pleases the ego:
3. Sin is against god:
Pg. 2
“SINS ULTIMATE CONSEQUENCE”
II. DO SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR SIN:
1. Repentance is the only thing that works with God about sin:
2. Repentance puts sin under the blood of Jesus”
III. SIN WILL DO SOMETHING TO YOU:
(Gal 6:7-8) “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption;”
The consequences if sin are two fold, immediate and long term. (Exod 34:7)
“Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.”
Immediate consequences of smoking, bad breath, smelly clothes, fatigue.
Long term, may be cancer or heart failure.
Immediate consequences of over eating, indigestion, fatigue, Hynal hernia.
Long term, cholesterol, strokes.
So sin is the silent killer, it works on you.
