The Evolution Solution
By Don Modarelli
Evolution presents a problem for Bible-believing Christians everywhere. It lurks in our children’s schools. The theory of evolution preached by teachers and documented in textbooks. It is the foundation for universities where Christian students are targeted by professors and belittled for sport. We cannot even enjoy a nice story for recreation without discovering overtones of evolution.
Intellectually speaking, evolution is anti-science and baffles the imagination. When one considers the careful balance of the global ecology and the precision in which human and animal cells must perform to sustain and reproduce life, it causes one to marvel and acknowledge the grand Creator. Nevertheless, many scientists weave thermonuclear formulas in an attempt to prove evolution.
The scary thing is they are often right! The formulas work. They have discovered amazing aspects of the created universe using a combination of theories and evidence to accurately predict and document aspects of this physical universe. They can put telescopes into space and measure magnetic fields of distant planets. They can map the human DNA sequence and operate on babies before they are born.
Yes, scientists are more than a lot of hot air. But we must beware of the hot air. Success with evidence does not guarantee success with conclusions. That is where we must draw the line, both logically and theologically. Science is science, but evolution is anti-science and must be disregarded like those hundreds of gruesome fairy tales we listened to while growing up.
According to The First Law of Thermodynamics, matter can neither be created nor destroyed, and to have an effect that has no cause would simply be termed “bad science.” Every cause must have an effect. Fred Heeren states that the universe is a very big effect, which demands a very big cause!
The Second Law of Thermodynamics teaches a principle called “increased entropy,” which declares that matter moves from order to disorder in varying stages of randomness. The Law of Evolution teaches just the opposite-that single-celled organisms evolved into complex humans. One of these laws has to be wrong, even if it is assisted by the magic wand called “millions and billions of years.” Things do not self-improve; they decay and degenerate!
The Third Law of Thermodynamics teaches that when all molecules of the universe are perfectly and uselessly scattered, the temperature of absolute zero will permanently occur. The universe is headed this direction according to the Second Law of Thermodynamics. The universe is winding down and it would be impossible, naturally, to wind it back up again. Nevertheless, some still insist that the universe will compress itself again and produce another “Big Bang,” and the process will go on infinitely in opposition to the Second Law
Psalm 102 declares the natural unwinding of the universe and a supernatural rewinding for a new heaven and a new earth: “Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands. They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed” (Psalm 102:25-26).
The laws of thermodynamics have no natural exceptions. Creationists and scientists cling to these laws adamantly to explain, interpret, and predict all mysterious natural phenomena. Only atheists and evolutionists dare to assert otherwise in an attempt to deny the obvious and necessary supernatural origin of life, the universe, and everything (including the three laws of thermodynamics).
I have been leaning toward the use of the word “natural” because there must be those supernatural moments to set in motion the natural ones. Whenever God invades and bypasses the laws of thermodynamics, we rightly use the word “miracle.” God did not simply create the universe and give it a spin; He also closely monitors the human inhabitants and looks to and fro for someone with a perfect heart to show Himself strong on their behalf. (See II Chronicles 16:9.)
Paul Davies, an Australian evolutionary physicist, wrote a book titled The Fifth Miracle in 1998 in which he recklessly describes “that no familiar law of nature could produce such a structure [i.e. life, DNA] from incoherent chemicals with the inevitability that some scientists assert.” Either there is a Fourth Law of Thermodynamics that governs life, or life has disobeyed the laws!
Davies counters with, “While I have no doubt that the origin of life was not in fact a miracle, I do believe that we live in a bio-friendly universe of a stunningly ingenious character.” He taunts the creationists, like all the other scientists who confess to be dazzled, with an insistence to disbelieve in the God of the Bible while finding no other explanation possible.
Somebody has to be intelligent. It has to be God or the bio-friendly universe!
Davies elsewhere stated, “The really amazing thing is not that life on Earth is balanced on a knife-edge, but that the entire universe is balanced on a knife-edge, and would be total chaos if any of the natural ‘constants’ were off even slightly.” “You see,” Davies adds, “even if you dismiss man as a chance happening, the fact remains that the universe seems unreasonably suited to the existence of life-almost contrived-you might say a ‘put-up job.'”
Apostle Peter said, “For this they willingly arc ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water” (II Peter 3:5). As creationist Kent Hovind said, “Willingly are ignorant” means “dumb on purpose.” Evolutionists are happy to study the evidence, but they simply do not want to believe in God!
In 1937, Aldous Huxley wrote Ends and Means in which he stated. “I had motives for not wanting the world to have a meaning … For myself, the philosophy of meaningless was essentially an instrument of liberation, sexual and political.”
On judgment clay, Huxley may try to play the agnostic defense and say, “But I didn’t know!” to which the Lord will respond, “You did not want to know!” and “Everybody ought to know!”
The Christian curt for the modern disease of evolution is simply that of phrase replacement. There is no avoiding evolution, and we should prepare our children to do the following fun
exercise to keep them from getting confused. This activity will remind them to think and protect them against lies.
When a book or person states, “millions and billions of years ago” we can simply think of the phrase, “in the beginning.” When we hear, “they decided to grow feathers” we should think, “God gave them feathers.” The rest of the presentation should be bearable and enjoyable nature was created in a most spectacular fashion and the evolutionists are great at discovering the details. Their only weakness is in the storytelling!
