1) GOD THE SOLITARY ONE.
Deut.4;35, “Unto thee it was shewed; that thou mightest know that the Lord he is God, there is none else beside him” also 6;4 “Hear 0 Israel the Lord our God is one Lord” also 6-13, “Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God, and serve Him(not them)” also 32;39, “See now I even I am he, there is no god with me” 2,Sam,7;22 “Wherefore thou art great, 0 Lord God; for there is none like thee neither is there any God beside thee”
Isa.43:10-11, “Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, my servant whom I have chosen that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am He; before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me, I, even I am the Lord and beside me there is no saviour” 44:6,” I am the first and the last, beside me there is no God” See also verse 8. 45:18 & 21-23. “Thus said the Lord that created the heavens, God himself that formed the earth and made it, he established it, created it not in vain, formed it to be inhabited, I am the Lord, and there is none else.”
1.Cor,8;6, “But to us there is but one God, the Father, on whom are all things, and we in him, and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him”
Eph.4:6 “One God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in you all.
1. Tim. 2:5 for there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the MAN Christ Jesus”
1. John 5;7, “there are three that bear record in heaven, The Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost, and these three are ONE”
James 2:19 “`Thou believest that there is one God (or that God is one):….the devils also believe and tremble”
2) THE REVELATION OF THE NAME.
John, 5:43 “I am come in my Fathers Name” 17:6 “I have manifested thy Name” v26 “I have declared thy name and will declare it”
a) Jehovah- Hoseenu. The Lord our Maker or Creator.
Ps.95:6 “0 come and let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel: before the Lord our maker” John.1:1-3. “all things were made by Him and without Him was not anything made that was made” Col.1;16 “for by him were all things created, that are in the heavens, and in the earth, visible and invisible…thrones or dominions, principalities, powers, all things were created by him and for Him”
b) Jehovah-Jireh. The Lord will provide. Gen.22:14.
Christ was the great provider. Food for the multitudes, wine at the wedding. God provided for his people in the wilderness, food and water, but the greater provision was the “lamb for the sacrifice” which was himself.
c) Jehovah-Ropheca. The Lord that healeth thee. Exodus: 15:26. God in the Old Testament healed Hezekiah, Jeroboam’s withered arm, Jesus also healed. Healing is performed “in His Name”
d) Jehovah-Mekkaddishkem. The Lord that sanctified you. Ex.31:13.
“I am the Lord that sanctifies you..” 1.Cor.1:30 “Christ is made unto us … sanctification” Eph.5:27, “that He might sanctify and cleanse the church” Heb.13:12, “Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people, suffered without the gate”
e) Jehovah-Rohirp. The Lord my shepherd. Psa.23:1.
Ps,80:1, “thou shepherd of Israel, that leadest Joseph like a flock” Isa.40:11, “Behold your God will come, he shall feed his flock like a shepherd and gather the lambs in his arms” Jesus is the good Shepherd John 10v11 The Great Shepherd Heb 13v20 The Chief Shepherd 1 Pet. 5:4
f) Jehovah-Tzidkenu. The Lord our righteousness Jer.23:6 and 33v16.
Rom.5:17-19 “..one man’s offence, death reigned by one..the gift of righteousness by one Jesus Christ…. one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the Obedience of one shall many be made righteous” Phil.3:9 ” the righteousness which is of God by faith”
g) Jehovah-Shammah. The God who is there or abides. Ez.48:35 Jesus said “Lo I am with you always.”
3) THE RECOGNITION OF THE TITLES.
a) Jehovah The King of Israel. lsa.43:15. In Samuel’s day they rejected His kingship. Nathaniel said “Thou art the king of Israel” John.1:49. Matt.21:5, Tell ye the daughter of Sion, “Behold thy king cometh unto thee.” John 19:14, Pilate saith unto the Jews, “Behold your king.”.they said “we have no king but Caesar..away with Him.” History repeated itself.
b) Jehovah the Saviour. Isa.43:3 &11 “The Holy One of Israel thy saviour..and beside me there is no saviour” Luke,1;47. “God my Saviour” Matt,1;21, “call his name Jesus for he shall save his people” Titus 2;10-11 “Looking for that blessed hope…the glorious appearing of our Great God and Saviour, Jesus Christ..” PhiI,3:20,Acts,13:23. Jude,25.
c) Jehovah the First and the Last. Isa.41:4 & 44:6. Rev.1:17 & 22:13.
d) Jehovah the “I am” and the ” I am He.” Ex.3:13-14. “I am that I am” Isa.43:10 “I am and none else beside me” John.8:24-28,”if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins..they understood not that he spake to them of the Father … when ye shall have lifted the Son of man then shall ye know that I am he..” v58 “Before Abraham was I am”
e) Jehovah the Rock. Duet.32:1-4. 2.Sam.22:3. Psa.18:2 & 31:3 & 78:35. I.Cor.10:4 “that Rock was Christ” Matt,16:18, “Upon this rock I will build”
f) Jehovah the Holy One. Isa.43:3 & 12:6. Ez,39:7. Acts 3:14, Mark 1:24, the devil said “I know thee thou art the Holy One of God” God the Holy One.
4) GOD’S THREEFOLD ABSOLUTES FOUND IN CHRIST.
Omniscience. Psa.147:5. “His understanding is infinite” John, 2:24-25 “Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men..” John 16; 30 “Now we are sure that thou knowest all things..” Peter said unto him “Lord thou knowest all things.” Rom, 11:33-35 Heb. 4:13. I. John. 3:20.
Omnipresence. Psa. 139:7. “whither shall I go from thy presence..” Prov. 15:3. “The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good” Jer.23:24 “Can any man hide himself..that I shall see, do not I fill heaven and earth” Matt.18:20 “where two or three are gathered in my Name I am in the midst of them.. Mat.28;20, “Lo I am with you always..”
Omnipotence. Psa.135;6, “whatsoever the Lord pleased, that he did in heaven and earth..” Luke 1;37 “Nothing shall be impossible to God” Matt,28;19 “All power is given unto me both in heaven and in earth.’
5) THE CLAIMS OF JESUS.
a) He claimed to be man.
He was called the son of man. He had human parentage. He had a genealogy. He grew. Luke 2:52. He was hungry. Matt 4:2 He fell asleep Luke 8:23, He became weary. John 4:6.He wept, John.11;35,He was tempted, Heb.4;15, He prayed John,11;41, John,17. Luke 23:42. He died. I.Cor. 15:3
b) He claimed to be God. John.10;30, “I and my Father are one” Jews were going to stone him for “thou being a man makest thyself God” John.14,9″ He that seen hath seen the Father … the Father-dwelleth in me” “God was in Christ” He accepted worship. “thou shalt worship the Lord thy God and him only shalt thou serve” Matt 4;10. Jesus was worshipped. Matt.2;11, Matt.14;33, Matt. 8;2, John,9 He could forgive sins. Mark.2;5 “Son thy sins be forgiven thee” v7 “only God can forgive sins” God alone is the judge “Shall not the judge of all the earth do right” Gen.18;25. Rom.2;16 “God shall judge the secrets of men” “we must all appear at the judgement seat of Christ” Rom,14;10. God expects sacrifices. Ps.107;22 “sacrifices of thanksgiving” Psa. 51:17, “of a broken and contrite spirit.” Heb.13;15 “by him let us offer the sacrifice of praise..giving thanks to his name. Rom.12.1 “present your bodies a living sacrifice..” ALL THAT JEHOVAH WAS IN THE OLD TESTAMENT, JESUS IS IN THE NEW. Thomas said “My Lord and my God.” We say the same.
