INTRODUCTION: The revelation of God for all man’s needs is found in the meaning of the various Hebrew names of the Supreme Being. “Our help is in the name of the LORD who made heaven and earth ” (Psalms 124:8).
1. ELOHIM: (Genesis 1:1) Elohim is formed from two words “El” meaning strength and “Alah” which implies faithfulness. Therefore God thus advertises strength and faithfulness for all who need and desire it. This name and its abbreviations are found 2808 times in the Bible. 2. JEHOVAH-JIREH: (Genesis 22:8 14) Means “the Lord will provide.” Used twice in the Bible. Dates back to B.C. 1872 or for 3868 years (1996).
3. JEHOVAH: (Exodus 6:3; 3:13, 14) This name refers us to God as a SELF -EXISITING Being–One who possesses and produces life. Jehovah is the author of all life. This name is found in the Bible more the an any other name of God or 6823 times. Dates back to B.C. 1491 or 3487 years (1996).
