Why Many People Are In Religious Error
By The Late Elder B. E. Echols
There are many reasons why so many people are in RELIGIOUS ERROR today. I would like to deal with two or three of the main reasons as listed in the Bible. If you will accept the facts as listed in the Word of God I can help you know the truth about this situation. Of course the Bible is the only safe course to take. See Matt 24:35 & John 12:48.
Jesus informed some people He was preaching to as follows; “Ye do ERR, NOT knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God “(Matt. 22:29). We must build our hope for the future on more than one scriptural reference; for it is “In the mouth of TWO or THREE witnesses shall EVERY WORD be established ” (II Cor. 13:1). The failure to adhere to this scriptural for establishing doctrinal truth is one of the main reasons why so many people arc deluded and in error today. The idea that some prominent preacher taught or believed this or that is NOT sufficient evidence for anyone to rely upon. It must be “Thus saith the Word of God.” See Isa 8:20 II Cor 13:1.
Secondly as already quoted people ERR NOT knowing … the power of God. The majority of the denominational world are preaching a POWERLESS gospel that is not supposed to deliver one from anything. Just affiliate yourself with some church of your own choice anti do the best you can and you will be saved with flying colors. Where can we find any scriptural background for such teaching as this when the Bible says “And if the RIGHTEOUS scarcely be saved where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?” (I Peter 4:18). Psalms 9:17 gives us a positive answer “The wicked shall be turned IN I O I JELL and ALL the nations that I FORGET God.”
The gospel that saves must be a message that DELIVERS people from sin and degrading evils (Rom 1:16) and makes them NEW creatures in Christ where “OLD THIINGS are passed away” and “behold ALL THINGS ARE BECOME NEW” Jor different. See II Cor 5:17 with Titus 2:11-15. We must BELIEVE and OBEY the gospel as preached by the Apostle Paul or be eternally lost. (Acts 19:1-7; Eph 1:13; Gal 1:6-17; II Thes 1:6-8; Mark 16:15-20.)
God allows the test of “strong delusion” to sift out those who do not have sufficient love in their hearts for God’s Word (II Thes 2:10-12). A constant flow of the holy Ghost into our lives is the only hope of our making it, when the church is raptured. See Jude 24; Rom 5:5 & 8:9-11.
